It's Baby Blanket Time

OK, so I have finally gotten to the point that I can now start my personal sewing since all merchandise is now in the stores and I have caught up with some of my personal chores such as house work, shopping, etc.  I really like making baby blankets and a few months ago I spotted this adorable fabric and it came in a kit AND it was on sale.  Lucky me.  I usually design my own  quilts but decided to let someone else do the designing and figure out how much fabric I would need for a change.  Finally found the time to start it so got the fabric washed this weekend and ironed today.  This design cannot be strip pieced, it will require cutting out each individual piece just like when I first started quilting and everything was hand stitched.  I found the template plastic and traced the two shapes and cut them out and then every piece will need to be traced onto the fabrics.  The background fabric for this quilt is black.  I will need to cut out 80 triangles from the black fabric and 80 kites from the prints.  The tone on tone magenta is the binding fabric. Once the quilt top is assembled, circles are fussy-cut from the green fruit fabric and appliqued where there is a junction of four black triangles and 4 of the prints.  This pleases me since that is 8 corners coming together and it is always difficult to get them to look right.  Well, time to start cutting!
